The Spring Member/Member kicked off the golfing calendar at Springbrook on the weekend and we were blessed with true Spring weather! Cool mornings and warm sunny afternoons produced some great golf at all handicap levels. Winning the Championship Flight Gross were the team of Brett Comerford and Robbie Lambert on a 2 round total of 133, 11 under par. The winners of the Championship Flight Net were Luther Roberson and Robert Nelson who shot the low round of the day a 3 under par 69 for a net total of 128. The First Flight winners were Fred McDonald and Glen Wear in the Gross and Jim Carver and Claude Anderson in the Net. The Second Flight winners were Alan Derrick and Bill Willson in the gross and Rhonda Leamon and Angie Lambert in the Net. The Longest Drive winners were Cody Housley, Will Thompson, Mason Jewell and Tenna Hornsby. The Closest to the Pin winners were Scott Horne, Jim Cornwall, and Tenna Hornsby.
This tournament was the first event in the year long Springbrook Cup Player of the Year Points race. All of our winners take a strong lead in the competition with bonus points for their victorious rounds. Pictured below are the winners, not shown are Luther Roberson and Robert Nelson.
The Memorial Weekend Matchplay’s Inaugural Event was held this week. Three flights of enthusiastic members played 3 rounds of matchplay over the long holiday weekend to decide on a Champion and Runner-Up. The Championship Flight played without handicap had several exciting matches enroute to Cody Housley coming out on top of Brett Comerford 7/6. The First Flight was very compeitive with several matches taking extra holes to decide upon a winner. In the end Bob Bruce road a hot wedge through the final holes to chip his way to victory over an inform Jack O’Donnell. In the Senior/Women’s Flight Alan Derrick was just too consistent for Joni Petitt and managed a sizeable victory for the trophy.
